The unique Infiniti FX "crossover" 4WD was given a complete makeover in 2009, with an unnoticeable facelift coming in 2012. The most prominent change for 2013 came in the form of a larger 3.7-litre V6 in a new FX37 model alongside the carryover 5.0-litre V8 in the FX50, both with 7-speed automatics with paddle shifters. Built on the all-wheel-drive front-midship platform, the new FX features an extensive list of available equipment. Available features include Continuous Damping Control, Rear Active Steer, and 21-inch lightweight aluminium-alloy wheels designed by Enkei. Inside, the new FX interior has available "sport" seating and advanced audio, optional navigation and technology ranging from an 11-speaker Bose-developed audio system to the intelligent key, available active cruise control and available around-view monitor system. The new FX offers numerous safety and convenience technologies such as intelligent brake assist, distance control assist, adaptive front lighting system, standard HID headlights, integrated fog lights, rear LED taillights, functional side air vents, aluminium roof rails, leather and wood trim, sunroof, "self-healing" clearcoat paint finish, stability control, and the usual power accessories and multiple airbags. Available new safety features for 2013 include object-detection for the around-view parking camera system as well as voice instructions on how to parallel-park into a specific space.
