Dodge Challenger 2010 Overview

The new Challenger marked the return of the legendary muscle-car nameplate from Dodge. Unfamiliar to GCC residents, but revered by American enthusiasts, the Challenger utilises retro styling that is largely a rethinking of the original 1970s Challenger's 2-door design. Sold only in top-spec SRT-8 trim with a steep GCC price tag, the Challenger isn't the affordable muscle it used to be back in the day. Sharing its platform, engine and mechanicals with other fullsize rear-wheel-drive Chrysler cars, the Challenger packs a 6.1-litre Hemi V8 mated to an aging 5-speed automatic with manual-shift functionality. Standard features include sporty suspension, bi-xenon headlights, leather-alcantara sport seats, keyless entry with starter button, CD stereo, and 20-inch aluminium-alloy wheels, along with the usual accessories such as automatic a/c, cruise control, power windows and electric mirrors. Also available are a sunroof, racing stripes, rear sensors with camera, and the UConnect touchscreen multimedia system with voice controls as well as navigation, hard drive and Bluetooth phone. Safety features include ABS, stability control, front and side airbags, and big honking Brembo brakes. Too bad a high price and a non-existent marketing campaign will make the Challenger a rarity on local roads.
