2012 Audi R8

The R8 is Audi's all-new two-seat, mid-engine sports car that incorporates technology from Audi's Le Mans-winning R8 prototype to build on its racing success for the street. The production version of the Audi R8 sports car debuted at the Mondial de l'Automobile in Paris in the fall of 2006, with the dramatic design remaining very true to the Le Mans quattro concept car first seen in 2003. The Audi R8 goes for the supercar look with its wide lowered stance, mid-engined setup and air-intake overkill. Based on the Lamborghini Gallardo platform, Audi added their own weird ideas of design, such as out-of-place "blade" of carbon fibre on each side, the gaping front end and LED headlight elements. The standard Audi R8 is powered by a 4.2-litre aluminium V8 with FSI direct fuel injection and quattro all-wheel drive. In mid-2009, a 5.2-litre V10 engine was introduced.
