2012 Skoda Octavia

The Octavia is based on the Volkswagen Golf platform, and has received a facelift for 2009. The range of engines and options has seemingly been paired down for the GCC, considering its low sales volumes. The base engine on offer is the outdated 1.6-litre 4-cylinder with a 6-speed auto, while a turbocharged 1.8-litre 4-cylinder with a 7-speed automanual was offered in some GCC countries. By late 2010, only the base engine and a turbocharged 2.0-litre 4-cylinder were offered. The Octavia is one of the more unique cars in its segment, with the look of a proper sedan, but with a lift-up rear hatch for loading luggage. It was initially available in most markets here in basic Classic and upmarket Ambiente trims. The Classic version offers steel wheels with hubcaps, manually operated rear windows, halogen headlights and black rubbing strips.
