2008 Jeep Cherokee

Completely redesigned for the 2008 model year, the Cherokee is tougher than most compact 4WDs. Also known as the Liberty in some markets, it seats five people and can carry their gear too. Powered by a 3.7-litre V6, it is mated to a 4-speed automatic. Fold the rear seats and it can move two people and their cargo. The entry-level Sport has a body-coloured grille, while the upscale Limited has a chrome grille. Turn off the pavement, and it can negotiate most trails with confidence. All models come with stability control, ABS brakes, Electronic Roll Mitigation, front airbags, available side airbags, and all-speed traction control. Standard on all models is a full-time four-wheel-drive system with low-range gearing.
