BMW X5 2013 Overview
BMW's American-built 4x4 has been completely updated for the 2011 model year, and comes in three models in this region, namely the xDrive35i with a turbocharged 3.0-litre 6-cylinder engine, and the xDrive50i with a turbocharged 4.4-litre V8. The list of optional equipment now includes features such as 18-inch to 20-inch alloy wheels, roof rails and panoramic moonroof, optional iPod / USB adapter interface, Active Cruise Control with Stop and Go, Lane Departure Warning, Active Steering, running boards, Head-Up Display, 4-zone automatic climate control, rear seat entertainment system, side-view cameras, top-view camera, Nappa leather seats, leather-covered dashboard, full keyless entry, and smartphone integration. The M Sport package includes 20-inch wheels with performance tyres, Adaptive Drive system, aluminium roof rails, M door sill plates, M driver footrest, M steering wheel and M aerodynamic enhancements.
BMW X5 2013 Reliability & Resale Value

Resale Value | |
Known Problems | Squeaks and rattles. Various reports about random electronic issues, involving everything from engine warnings to power accessories to dead batteries, all of which are minor, but can be expensive if it involves replacing electronic modules. Keep a lookout for electrical problems. Make sure the power steering gear and water pump have been replaced. BMW has identified a number of N63 V8 engine components with high failure rates, including timing chains that stretch and snap, leaking crankcase ventilation and fuel lines, as well as malfunctioning fuel injectors, mass airflow sensors and vacuum pumps, fixed under warranty. May need oil top-up between services. EfficientDynamics fuel-saving systems cause short battery life, may require battery change on every service interval. |
