The 2026 Volkswagen Golf R is a hot-hatch. In 2025 it got a power-boosted engine, updated lighting, and significant interior technology upgrades.

Performance and Drivetrain

• Engine: A 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder (TSI) engine producing 333 hp and 420 Nm of torque.

• Transmission: Exclusively equipped with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic (DSG); the manual option is not available in this market.

• Drive System: 4MOTION® all-wheel drive with R-Performance Torque Vectoring, capable of distributing 100% of rear torque to a single outside wheel.

• Acceleration: 0 to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds.

• Top Speed: Electronically limited to 250 km/h, but can be increased to 270 km/h with the optional R-Performance Package.
