The S-Type sporting sedan is a great example of a polarising retro design, and though we love its looks, many out there don't. It was originally launched for 2000, then upgraded for 2003, and received a facelift in 2005. The 2003 update apparently had improved the car dramatically, while adding a set of new V8 motors. For 2005, Jaguar updated the styling, revised the interior, and retuned the suspension. Engines include the adequate base 3.0-litre V6, the decent 4.2-litre V8 and the over-the-top supercharged 4.2-litre V8, all mated to a ZF six-speed automatic with basic manual shift capability. Jaguar's quality has been dramatically improved over the past few years. Depending on model, features include power seats with memory, a split-folding rear seat, automatic dual-zone climate control, power adjustable steering column with tilt-away entry and exit action, twin-function trip computer, and cruise control.
