We’ve rounded up a list of all new cars currently available in the UAE priced under AED 60,000*. This article only covers cars – so think sedans and hatchbacks.

All of the cars on this list share a few basic characteristics: a small but fuel-efficient engine, automatic transmission, power steering, and safety systems such as two airbags, an Automated Braking System (ABS), a tyre pressure monitor, and Electronic Brake Pressure Distribution (EBD).

Budget cars such as in the list below are good options as first cars for new drivers interested in easy to drive small cars that are fuel efficient and budget-friendly in maintenance.

 Kaiyi E5 (Starting price from AED 58,000)

The 2024 Kaiyi E5 has a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder engine mated to a CVT. The car produces the most power on the list at 156hp. The E5 comes in three different trims with the same chassis, powertrain and 2 front airbags. The base trim includes keyless entry, push-to-start, and rear AC vents. To get the 7-inch LCD screen, you’ll have to upgrade to one of the two higher trims, including a 360 camera, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and wireless charging for your mobile phone.

 Geely Emgrand (Starting price from AED 57,900)

The 2024 Geely Emgrand comes in two trims, but only one is priced at less than AED 60,000. Both trims have a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder engine mated to a CVT. The GS base trim offers fabric seats, halogen headlights, a 2-speaker system, an 8-inch screen, and a 6-way manual driver’s seat adjustment. 

If you shell out AED 10,000 more, you can upgrade to the GF trim with LED headlights, leather seats, a bigger 12.3-inch display screen, 6-way electric adjustment for the driver’s seat, and 6 airbags for safety. Both trims offer cruise control, keyless entry and start, a rearview camera, and Bluetooth connectivity. The Emgrand also happens to be the longest on this list, therefore offering the best rear legroom.

The 2024 Suzuki Swift is packed with a 1.2-litre petrol 4-cylinder engine that is mated to a CVT. The car has 11-colour configurations and two trims, but we doubt the dealers here will offer all of the colours. The Swift is quite light and also offers one of the best fuel-economy figures on this list. The GL is pretty bare-bones and has a standard audio system. Add a bit more money, and you get features like keyless entry and start, leather steering wheel and automatic A/C. The base model only gets you dual airbags, but with the GLX, you get side and curtain airbags.

 Kia Picanto (Starting price from AED 52,500)

The 2024 Kia Picanto is a 5-door hatchback with a 1.2-litre 4-cylinder engine and a 4-speed automatic. It is also the smallest car in the group, with a length of just 3,600 mm. Parking will be a piece of cake in this, but tall passengers probably won’t enjoy the ride at the back with the limited legroom. The higher trim, GT-Line, costs AED 10,000 more and offers much more features. On the exterior, you get LED headlights and 15-inch alloy wheels. The interior also upgrades with technology features such as an 8-inch display screen with a rearview camera, Bluetooth connectivity, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and a leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio and cruise control.

The 2024 Suzuki Baleno has a 1.4-litre engine and a 4-speed automatic transmission. The base trim GL offers a 7-inch screen that can be linked to your phone for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, fog lamps, and a rearview camera. 

For an additional AED 8,000, you can upgrade to the GLX trim, which includes a 9-inch screen, a 360-degree camera, LED headlamps, and a head-up display. Safety also improves in the GLX, with 6 airbags instead of the standard 2.

The 2024 Mitsubishi Attrage is a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder engine mated to a CVT. The car has three trims: the GLS, GLX and Signature. The car has a weight of only 870 kg, is the lightest in the group, and offers excellent fuel efficiency of 20.8 km/l. The fuel economy comes at the cost of being the slowest in the group, as the engine produces just 76 hp. There isn’t much happening in the interior, with just a standard audio system and fabric seats. Safety features are standard with just front airbags, tyre pressure monitor and ABS.

The 2024 MG 5 is a budget-friendly sedan offered by the Chinese brand. The car has a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder engine mated to a CVT. Things are pretty bare in the standard model, but add AED 6,000 more, and you get alloy wheels, an 8-inch infotainment screen that supports Android Auto and Apple Carplay and a leather steering wheel with audio controls. The price goes beyond AED 60,000 for the top Luxury trim, which adds features like leather seats, a 10-inch screen, a sunroof, LED headlamps, and an automatic air conditioner.

The 2024 Changan Alsvin, which was first launched locally in 2018, completes the list of the lowest-priced new cars currently available in the UAE. The car has a decent list of features at just AED 42,900, including a 1.5-litre cylinder engine mated to a 5-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission instead of the usual CVT. While it may be the cheapest on the list, it has a 10.25-inch touchscreen display connected to a 2-speaker setup. The infotainment system gets Mirrorlink to mirror your phone screen on the display.
