2024 Mercedes-Benz CLA gets a nip and tuck

Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class brought some style to the lower end of the Mercedes-Benz range back in 2013. The little 4-door coupe still exists in the Merc line-up, despite the availability of a more practical A-Class sedan. The 2024 Mercedes-Benz CLA Class brings minor updates to improve its appeal.

Mercedes-Benz CLA engine specifications

Significant upgrades to the 2024 Mercedes-Benz CLA Class lie under the bonnet. The new trims, the CLA 250 and CLA 250 4Matic utilize the same 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine. But this mill is now coupled with a 48-volt electrical system and a belt-driven starter generator. This setup adds 13 hp. The engine’s output is a healthy 221 hp in these base models.

Turning up the heat, as always, are the AMG versions. The entry point to this range is the CLA 35, which also gets the 48-volt system. The turbo 2.0-litre engine in this baby AMG makes 302 hp and comes with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission instead of a seven-speed one.

The most bonkers 2024 CLA you can buy is the 2024 Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 S. It now crosses the 400 hp marker, producing 416 hp, assisted by 500 Nm of torque—plenty for a small car like the CLA.

Exterior updates

The improvements on the skin of the new 2024 Mercedes-Benz CLA Class include a slightly redesigned front end. The grill now wields a star pattern, and the headlamps get new graphics. The AMGs get more aggressive treatment with updated front and rear designs, as usual. The CLA AMG 45 S can be fitted with a fixed rear spoiler as a part of the AMG Aerodynamics Package Plus. There are, of course, new body colours, Hyper Blue and Starling Blue.

The 2024 Mercedes-Benz CLA Class gets three new wheel designs, a standard offering that measures 18 inches, and two optional designs, both measuring 19 inches. The CLA 45 S gets five-spoke 19-inchers as standard, with machined surfaces.

A pair of 10.25-inch screens are now standard for all 2024 Mercedes-Benz CLA Class models. It runs an updated MBUX software with new Classic, Sporty, and Discreet display designs. The optional Burmester audio system gets an additional Dolby Atmos functionality to make matters interesting. It also receives a Parking Package as standard that throws in a 360-degree camera view. The Lane Keep Assist system is now a part of the Driver Assistance Package.
