Hennessey Velociraptor 1000 turns the crazy dial to eleven
While the whole automotive world is scrambling to greenify everything they can find, some brands act like they did not receive the memo. Hennessey Performance is among them, and the Hennessey Velociraptor 1000 is a near-1000 hp monster truck that eats convention for breakfast.
The Hennessey Velociraptor 1000 builds on the Ford Raptor R, which is a potent truck. The stock truck snorts its poison from a supercharged 5.2-litre V8 from a Shelby GT500. It produces 700 hp and 867 Nm of torque right from the factory. Now, you know the drill. Hennessey, V8 and voila. The Hennessey Velociraptor 1000 is born, with almost 1000 hp, 999 to be exact. The torque is up, too, at 1,152 Nm.
Hennessey Performance fiddled with the Shelby V8, giving it a high-flow intake system, upgraded supercharger belt and fuel lines, and bigger fuel injectors. No need to mention the software behind all this has been tweaked too.
With added power comes added….fuel consumption. Not that it matters to anyone who buys it, the Raptor R in its stock form drinks 23.5 litres of petrol in the city and 15.7 on the highway to cover 100 km. Expect the Hennessey Velociraptor 1000 to sip a little harder than this.
Visually, the Hennessey Velociraptor 1000 sets itself apart with new bumpers at the front and rear, large 20-inch wheels with 37-inch off-road rubber, a large LED light bar, and a lot of badging.
The crazy truck will make its debut in Q1 2023. You can scoop up the truck then, which will come with a 2-year/24,000-mile warranty.
