Ferrari 296 GTS combines Hybrid V6 power and an open top experience

Every brand is downsizing its engines to cope with the stringent norms around the world. Ferrari showed off their contribution to their trend in the form of the Ferrari 296 GTB back in 2021. Now, they are adding more flair to this formula in the form of an open-top. Welcome, Ferrari 296 GTS.

The business bit of the Ferrari 296 GTS is its open top. It is a retractable hardtop that can be stowed away in 14 seconds. This electrically operated roof can be taken up or down while the vehicle is traveling at speeds of up to 45 kmph.

Apart from the roof, the remaining bits of the 296 GTS is the same as the 296 GTB. Under the rear engine cover, rests a 3.0-litre V6 engine that is married to an electric motor. This combo produces a very impressive 830 hp and 740 Nm of torque. This is good enough for the supercar to hit 100 kph from 0 in 2.9 seconds. The top speed is also impressive, at 330 km/hr.

The Ferrari 296 GTS can drive solely on electric juice for a maximum distance of 25 kmph. The power handling duties are done by the same eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission found in the Roma, Portofino, and the SF90 Stradale.

The added strengthening of the Ferrari 296 GTS convertible’s body adds 70 kg to the weight of the Coupe, if fitted with an optional Assetto Fiorano package. This is expected, as the 296 GTS comes with a heavy folding hard top.
