Mazda CX-50 adds more ruggedness to the brand’s crossover lineup
Mazda recently revealed the Mazda CX-50, a rugged alternative for those who think that Mazda’s own CX-5 is too road-biased.
Just like most Mazdas on sale now, the CX-50 is handsome to look at. The rugged detailing on the sleek body has not taken away its good looks. The “Kodo” design language is retained, albeit with macho detailing like the plastic cladding on wheel arches and doors, roof rails as well as strong elements on the bumpers.
The interior is all Mazda, with a driver-focused layout. The seats have been given an extra outdoorsy vibe, thanks to the Terracotta finish and additional stitching on the upholstery. A panoramic moonroof adds an illusion of a roomier cabin.
The base CX-50 will get its power from a naturally-aspirated 2.5-litre 4-cylinder petrol unit. As an upgrade, a turbocharged version of the same mill is also available. Both these powerplants are paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission as well as the i-Activ all-wheel-drive system. Electrified versions will be added to this at a later date.
The AWD system also gets a drive mode select feature where users can customize the settings according to the road conditions. Standard drive modes like Normal, Off-Road, and Sport are also available.
More details regarding the Mazda CX-50 will be available at a later date. There is no news yet whether the CX-50 will be available in the UAE or other GCC countries.

Thanks for the information. Any idea when will the CX 50 likely to debut in Dubai? I have been planning to buy a Mazda CX5. Is CX50 worth the wait?
