2021 Genesis G80 reveals Hyundai luxury arm’s new identity
The 2020 Geneva Motor Show was the stage chosen by many brands to unveil their prestigious new offerings. But with the show now cancelled amidst the coronavirus epidemic, most manufacturers are launching their products online. Genesis has chosen to unveil their new sedan, the Genesis G80, through their Instagram handle. At least they didn’t use “influencers.”
Design-wise, the Genesis G80 can be safely called the sedan version of the Genesis GV80 SUV. It follows the “two-line” design philosophy of Genesis in its best iteration yet. The twin-line philosophy is not only confined to the headlamps and taillamps but is also found on the character lines that define the body. Like it or not, all luxury manufacturers are now choosing some big chrome things as the grills for their new cars and Genesis is no different. The G80 also gets a massive chrome grill upfront. The side profile looks sleek like the new Sonata.
Though the preliminary images don’t reveal much, we can see that the interior will get the 14.5-inch touchscreen from the GV80. Other touches from the SUV include the seat leather upholstery, wood trim on the dashboard, and the pressure-sensitive rotary dial in the centre console.
Though the specs are not clear at this early stage of the reveal, the Genesis G80 can be expected to share engines with the GV 80 SUV as they are built on the same platform. The SUV is offered with a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine or a 3.5-litre V6 engine.
More specs and the price details of the 2021 Genesis G80 will be made available in the coming days. This new Korean car will be am interesting addition to the segment which was ruled by the Germans and the Japanese for ages.

Absolutely gorgeous! Hope they have a trade-in facility so that I can exchange it for my old G80.
