2019 Toyota 86 offered in limited-edition TRD trim
Here’s the 2019 Toyota 86, with minor updates but no extra power. Instead, Toyota has revealed a limited edition TRD Special Edition trim for the 86 with slightly improved dynamics.
The production of the TRD Special Edition 2019 Toyota 86 is limited to 1,418 units but each of them gets a host of updates that improve the Coupe’s dynamics. There are SACHS dampers for improving the steering response. The brakes are upgraded to Brembo units, with four-pistons at the front and two-pistons at the back. The 18-inch wheels are shod with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 summer tyres.
The TRD special edition is finished in an exclusive shade of Raven Black. A TRD body kit is also offered which adds a new front and rear bumpers, side sills, spoiler and diffuser. Retro 80s tri-colour graphics round it off.
Inside, the red and black theme continues on the seats, steering wheel and the top of the instrument cluster. There are red seat belts as well.
The standard model now comes with LED headlights, body coloured side mirrors, chrome-tipped dual exhaust, and 17-inch alloy wheels. A GT model acts as the higher end model which adds LED fog lights, heated mirrors, a matte black rear wing and aerodynamic floor undercover.
Powering the 2019 Toyota 86 is the same 2.0-litre flat-four engine with 205 hp and 211 Nm of torque when paired to a six-speed manual. Hooking the automatic up drops the power and torque figures by 5 each.
The base, GT, and the TRD model of the 2019 Toyota 86 will go on sale in the next month elsewhere, but it is unclear when the UAE and GCC launch will be.
