2019 Ford Edge ST debuts alongside full-range facelift
The Ford Edge has been updated for 2019. Changes include a bit more power, a facelift and an Edge ST model.
The facelift gives the Edge a sharper front-end inspired by the current Fusion sedan as well as a mildly-reworked rear.
The 2019 Edge EcoBoost model with the 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine, now makes 250 hp in U.S. spec, up by 5 hp last year. An 8-speed automatic with a rotary dial gear-shifter promises an improvement in fuel economy too.
More standard safety features include forward collision warning, pre-collision assist, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, LED headlights and automatic high beams.
The Edge Sport has been rebadged as the Edge ST for 2019, with the 2.7-litre turbo V6 now making 335 hp in U.S. spec (up 20 hp) and 515 Nm of torque. The 8-speed auto and all-wheel-drive are standard, while revised suspension improve handling, and bigger brakes are optional. Inside, the seats receive thicker bolsters.
It is unclear if the 3.5-litre V6 engine will continue to be offered. Expect the new model to reach UAE, KSA and other GCC markets by early next year.
