Hennessey Venom F5 debuts, aiming for 300 mph

Hypercars push the top-speed ceiling a step up every time a new model is released. Now, with the release of the all-new Hennessey Venom F5, the 300 mph (or 482 kph) mark is about to be conquered. Just like the Venom GT that came before it, the Hennessey Venom F5 aims at the crown for the fastest production car.

Instead of the Lotus chassis that underpinned the GT, the Venom F5 comes with a custom carbon fibre tub around which its lightweight body is built. The aerodynamic design of the Venom F5 helps Hennessey to bring down the drag coefficient to 0.33Cd, which is significantly lower than the 0.44 Cd of the Venom GT.

Staying true to Hennessey’s words “I’m a purist”, the Venom F5 comes with no hybrid witchcraft. In the engine bay sits a custom-built 7.4-litre bi-turbo V8 that churns out a colossal 1600 hp and 1762 Nm. This power is handled by a seven-speed single clutch paddle-shift gearbox. A manual gearbox is available as an option for the primitive but proud petrolheads.

The performance figures of the Venom F5 are earth-shattering, to say the least. It takes just 10 seconds to sprint from 0 to 300 kph, and the 0 to 400 kph run is completed in under 20 seconds. The top speed is claimed to be 484 kph which breaches the 300 mph mark. We expect Hennessey to prove their claim right soon.

Only 24 of these monsters will ever be built, going for US$ 1.6 million apiece. With all the options, the price will go beyond US$ 2 million.
