2018 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado launched in the UAE
The 2018 Land Cruiser Prado facelift has been officially launched by Al-Futtaim Motors, exclusive distributor of Toyota in the UAE. Along with exterior changes, the interior gets some upgrades as well.
The front fascia gets a redesigned bonnet, radiator grille, headlamps, front bumper and fenders. The rear gets a redesigned lamp cluster featuring an LED stop light, a smaller rear garnish plate incorporated within the number plate surround and a restyled bumper. The Prado now sits on standard 17-inch alloy wheels, or optional gloss painted 18-inch alloy wheels.
The interior also has been updated with slight changes to the instrument cluster. The centre console has been lowered slightly as well, to improve front visibility when driving off-road. Along with that, the higher models get a 9-inch screen with navigation and rear view camera. The top ‘Limited’ model gets a JBL system with 14 speakers. The infotainment system also has Bluetooth, USB and mini-jacks support to play external devices. Rear passengers get a 9-inch retractable screen to play DVDs, Blueray discs and other sources. In the top model, the front passengers also get ventilated seats.
Under the hood, the same 164 hp 2.7-litre 4-cylinder and 271 hp 4.0-litre V6 engine options are offered. Both engines are coupled to a 6-speed automatic transmission.
New to the Prado is the Crawl Control System which assists the driver to get out of situations where the vehicle gets stuck during off-roading. It does that by automatically controlling the engine output and hydraulic brake pressure, leaving the driver to only maneuver the steering wheel.
Starting price of the 2018 2.7-litre 3-door and 5-door Toyota Land Cruiser Prado is AED 129,900 and for the 4.0-litre 5-door is AED 159,000.

The base motor is severely underpowered, this thing should come standard with the V6 and even still, the V6 makes only 271hp from 4 liters! Toyota could’ve used the 3.5 that makes the same power and probably is lighter. It’s also missing features such as blind spot detection and cross traffic alert, 360 cameras, heated seats and rear sunshades. These are features that most cars of a similar size, in this class and price range have smh.
