2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk revealed with 707 hp

Anticipated for over a year, the Hellcat-powered 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk has finally been revealed, instantly becoming the most powerful production SUV ever created.

The Trackhawk’s 6.2-litre supercharged “Hellcat” V8 makes 707 hp and 875 Nm, only slightly down on torque compared to the Challenger and Charger SRT Hellcat models’ 881 Nm, possibly to save wear-and-tear on the all-wheel-drive components. The motor can accelerate the 2,433-kg Jeep from zero to 100 kph in just 3.7 seconds, quicker than much pricier rivals from Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, BMW and Range Rover, as long as you don’t count the minivan-like Tesla Model X P100D. The Jeep can also run the quarter mile in 11.6 seconds and achieve a top speed of 290 kph, as well as tow up to 3,266 kg.

The Trackhawk comes with an 8-speed automatic gearbox, strengthened further over the version in the previous Hellcat cars. It sends power through an all-wheel-drive system with an electronically-controlled limited-slip differential between the rear wheels. Depending on the drive mode, the tech is able to vary the front-rear torque split, including 40:60 in Auto, 50:50 in Snow, 60:40 in Tow, 35:65 in Sport, and 30:70 in Track.

A set of 15.75-inch Brembo brakes in front and 13.78-inch rotors in the rear are standard. Other functional upgrades include an extra slit in the front fascia to aid cooling, and an intake in place of the driver’s side foglight routes cool air to the engine. Body-coloured flares go over the 20-inch wheels. There’s also a new quad-tip exhaust with a dark finish on the tailpipes, but otherwise it looks pretty much like the regular Grand Cherokee SRT.

Inside, the tachometer now sits in the centre of the instrument panel, and the 8.4-inch infotainment system features Trackhawk-exclusive pages for monitoring performance metrics. Nappa leather/suede seats are standard. An available Signature Leather Interior Package covers the whole cabin in black or dark red. This dark crimson is also an option for the seat belts.

The Trackhawk will go on sale in the States in the last quarter of 2017, so it should hit UAE, KSA and other GCC markets by the summer of 2018, probably at a price in the region of Dhs 350,000.
