Artega Scalo Superelletra resurrected as full-electric sports car

German automaker Artega Automobil has released a new supercar, the Artega Scalo Superelletra. Artega went bust and bankrupt in July 2012, just 5 years after rolling out their first car, the GT, in 2007. But the brand managed to resurrect itself from its ashes by coming up with the Scalo in September 2015 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The new Artega Scalo Superelletra is an improved version of this all-electric model.

The Superelletra is an adaptation of the word “Superleggera” that we are used to seeing on lightweight supercars. The Superelletra is a supercar that flaunts a retro design with gullwing doors and a McLaren F1 like, 2+1 seating arrangement with the driver placed in the centre.

The numbers on the Scalo Superelletra’s spec sheet are not anything to shrug at. With two electric motors attached to the front axle and another two at the back, the Superelletra outputs a colossal 1020 hp. The amount of torque is not officially revealed, but Auto Express magazine says that it could be about 1620 Nm.

With all this spark, the Artega Scalo Superelletra will do the 0-100 kph run in 2.7 seconds. The top speed will be electronically governed at the 300 kph mark. The large 120 kWh Lithium-ion battery pack gives it a range of 500 km in the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC).

The Scalo Superelletra at the concluded 2017 Geneva Moor Show was just a show car, hence the side cameras. The production model will be made available at the beginning of spring 2019 in a limited series of 50 cars. No word has been said on the pricing, but it is expected to lie around the US $1.6 million mark.

With renewed interest in electric cars with the introduction of Tesla here, who knows, we might see a few Scalo supercars on the streets of the UAE and other GCC countries.
