2018 Hyundai Sonata facelift revealed

The 2018 Hyundai Sonata has received a facelift, and has officially been launched in South Korea.

The facelifted Sonata will debut internationally at the 2017 New York Auto Show in April. The new model has sharper front and rear fascias as well as some minor interior changes.

Changes also include redesigned 17-inch and 18-inch wheels, updated a/c and stereo controls, as well as a 7-inch colour touchscreen. A larger 8-inch screen will be offered as an option. Updated steering wheel designs include a flat-bottomed one for the 2.0 Turbo. The sedan also includes a new USB charge port in the centre console, wireless smartphone charging capability, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as options such as Lane Departure Warning system, Blind Spot Detection, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, High Beam Assist, Dynamic Bending Lights and a Lane Keep Assist function.

In terms of engines, South Korean customers are offered a 139 hp 1.7-litre VGT, a 177 hp 1.6-litre T-GDI, a 160 hp 2.0-litre and a 241 hp 2.0-litre turbo. It is likely the GCC-spec version will continue offering a 2.4-litre engine as well.

Expect the new model debut at UAE, KSA and other GCC dealerships by the end of the year.
