Subaru Legacy 2018 sedan debuts with minor facelift

Subaru’s mid-size sedan Legacy has been given an overall tweak for 2018 which has made it look a lot like its stable mate, the Impreza. Subaru is debuting the car at the 2017 Chicago Motor Show.

A new design is sharper than the current one with the new LED headlamps and fog lamps. The shape of the grill remains the same but the chrome slat on which the Subaru logo rests gives it a fresh appeal. The rear is not worked on a lot as the only major change at this end are the new tail pipes that integrate into the rear bumper.

Inside, Subaru has given the Legacy an interior a notch or two better than the older one in terms of quality. The sound insulation is also improved for a quieter ride. The infotainment system screen grows from 6.2 inches to 6.5 inches and now supports the mandatory Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. An 8-inch screen is also available as an option.

Subaru hasn’t tampered with the engine range of the Legacy a bit as they continue to offer the same lineup for 2018 model year. The 2.5-litre four-cylinder boxer engine produces 175 hp while the 3.6-litre flat-six motor churns out 259 hp. The software of the CVT gearbox is retuned to make it more responsive and to offer smoother acceleration. The torque-vectoring all-wheel-drive is available on all models.

The 2018 Legacy will show its new face at the 2017 Chicago Motor Show. Expect a UAE, KSA and GCC debut by the end of the year.
