So we got a 2017 Honda Civic 1.6 LX

Honda has been busy trying new things lately, and while we may never see the fruits of their labour when it comes to the NSX or the Type-R, we are now getting a base version of the latest Honda Civic with a 1.6-litre engine. Spec it up for a few bucks though, and it’s hard to tell it apart from the 2.0-litre version.

Externally, the 1.6-litre model still gets a chrome grille, LED lighting bits and optional 16-inch alloys so it doesn’t look basic by any means.

Inside, the most obvious differences are a smaller screen with more buttons and more traditional gauges in the instrument cluster. Otherwise it’s pretty much identical to the 2.0’s cabin.

What surprised us the most was how much useful power the little new engine had. More on that in the full review.

What do you think?

  1. generally speaking Honda is losing its zest these days. Am not sure why. their civic was out design by masda’s counterpart, at least its just me.

Look what have they done on their pilot. it doesnt look pilot anymore, in fact they should have called it honda attendant.

i guess, honda should wake up as soon as possible!

  2. ^ The pilot was always weird but the new one is a decent improvement in terms of everything but price. Civic on the other hand is a huge step up from its predecessor and in my opinion the competition. Looks are subjective so you may find Mazda better and that’s okay.
Mash , it’s great to see you reviewing the same car in all three available engines. Keep up the good work !! Just one more week till I get my hands on my very on Civic Ex so can’t wait ! Waiting for the full review of this one 🙂

  3. Bring back your lost glory Honda. Kia and Hyundai are kicking you in face.
