Chevrolet Traverse 2018 redesign debuts

After a long 10-year stint, Chevrolet’s Traverse crossover gets a complete makeover for 2018. It is not just a facelift of the new GMC Acadia either, as the Chevy version has a longer wheelbase. It uses GM’s latest C1XX platform as its underpinning.

The front has a large grille which is flanked by a set of D-Optic LED headlamps. The Traverse has ditched its curvy nature for a new squared one. The bowtie logo at the rear acts as a floor illumination which helps the driver to activate the powered boot release in dark conditions.

The engine choices on the 2018 Traverse include a 3.6-litre LGX V6 and a 2.0-litre turbocharged LTG 4-cylinder. Both these engines will be paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission to handle the power. It features a start-stop system that will help in saving fuel. In the pursuit to save fuel, they have also endowed the AWD Traverse the ability to cut off supply to the rear wheels when not needed, rendering it a front-wheel-drive car.

Chevrolet has made two new trim levels available for the 2018 Traverse, High country and RS, the latter of which will only be available with a 2.0-litre turbo engine. The safety features list on the Traverse is also well-weighted with the addition of technologies like surround vision, lane keep assist with lane departure warning, front pedestrian braking, forward collision alert and Low and high-speed forward automatic braking.

Debuting at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show, expect the new Traverse to reach UAE, KSA and GCC showrooms by the end of the year.
