2017 Suzuki Ignis breaks cover in india
Maruti Suzuki in India has previewed a new addition to their portfolio which might find its way into the Middle Eastern market. The Ignis, as it’s called, is a funky micro-crossover aimed at the “urban” youth. The Ignis is based on the Ignis Trail concept revealed at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show. If the Ignis makes it, its arrival will offer a bit of contrast to the otherwise sedate Suzuki lineup in the Middle East.
The Ignis is projected as a pocket-friendly, fun-filled urban SUV. It is a niche product aimed squarely at the urban youth who are on the lookout for a fun little techy car with an affordable price tag. Suzuki has tried to keep the design contemporary with the squared lines and the tall-boy design. LED projector headlamps are offered along with LED daytime running lamps and fog lamps. The car will also feature plenty of customisation options.
The Ignis features similarly contemporary design for the interior as well, with customisation options. The tablet-shaped infotainment system supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. In India, it is offered with two airbags and ABS as standard across all variants.
The engine offered with the Ignis will be a 1.2-litre 83 hp petrol engine. This engine does duty in the Indian Swift. It is unsure whether Suzuki will retain this engine choice for the GCC market as the Swift does not offer the 1.2-litre engine here. This will only be clear when Suzuki makes an official announcement.
Reflecting on the fact that a similarly funky car like the Kia Soul was accepted in the Middle East, the arrival of the Ignis in the UAE can be considered a certainty.
