More powerful 2017 Nissan GT-R on sale in the UAE

The facelifted 2017 Nissan GT-R is now available in UAE showrooms. The recent revamp adds superior aesthetics, track-focused chassis enhancements and more power to the Japanese supercar.

Changes to skin of the 2017 GT-R begin with a new front spoiler lip and front bumpers with finishers located immediately below the headlamps replicating the looks of a circuit racer, while generating greater down force at the front end. The dark chrome ‘V-motion’ grille now has a revised mesh pattern that has been enlarged to permit better circulation around key components for better cooling; and the restyled front bumper is flanked by inlets that redirect air around the front wheel wells to help reduce drag.

The beltline between the lower black section and the body panel has been heightened to give the car a more aggressive and purposeful stance from the rear. The GT-R’s rear façade extends out at the sides pulling away all the hot exhaust and thereby allowing the exhaust system cool better. The GT-R is also equipped with new side skirts that are designed to restrict air from being drawn underneath the vehicle and the area around the C-pillar has been revised to minimize turbulence. The sportier exterior is not just more appealing to the eye, it improves high-speed stability whilst keeping the coefficient of drag at an efficient 0.26.

The changes are not limited to exterior, Nissan has made significant revisions to the the cabin as well. The entire dashboard is new and so is the instrument panel which is now wrapped in a single, seamless piece of hand-selected Nappa leather artfully stitched with Takumi-style precision. The dashboard’s design adopts a ‘horizontal flow’ to create a sense of visual balance for front seat occupants. The cushion layer over the instrument panel leather has been updated with a new, thinner material to reduce weight, and the front seats have been made lighter, thanks to a new side-support construction method that is claimed to provide better comfort and support especially over long hauls.

At the heart of the GT-R is a revised 3.8-liter V6 24-valve twin-turbocharged engine – one that has been handcrafted by its own Takumi technician. It now churns out a prodigious 565 hp at 6800 rpm and 637 Nm of torque between 3300-5800 rpm without compromising fuel economy. The improved output is the result of individual ignition-timing control of the cylinders, first developed for the GT-R NISMO and extra boost from the turbochargers.

The force-fed motor is linked to a revised quick-shifting 6-speed dual-clutch transmission that is claimed to deliver smoother shifts, which distributes power to all four wheels via the GT-R’s’s all-wheel drive system. Helping the GT-R shed speed and momentum is a Nissan/Brembo braking system has four-wheel disc brakes, with two-piece floating-rotors and a diamond-pattern internal ventilation, sized 15.4-inches upfront and and 15.0-inches at the rear.

The 2017 Nissan GT-R 2017 is now available across showrooms in Dubai, Sharjah and the Northern Emirates. Prices start at Dhs 495,000.
