All-new 2017 Jeep Compass debuts with Grand Cherokee-like semblance
Here comes the 2017 Jeep Compass and it’s all-new from the ground up! As a new C-Segment SUV from Jeep, it’ll replace both the Jeep Compass or Patriot models, while comfortably slotting in between the Renegade and Cherokee.
The new Compass is based on a stretched Renegade platform, something that Fiat Chrysler Automotive describe as “Small Wide 4×4” architecture. Expect the standard format of the vehicle to be a front-wheel-drive platform, with four-wheel -drive offered as an option. As per sources, Jeep will offer either a 2.0-litre turbo inline-4 or a naturally-aspirated 2.4-litre inline-4, both hooked up to a 9-speed automatic transmission; with slight chances for getting a manual transmission. And according to FCA, there will be 17 powertrain options offered globally, which translates to the probability of having more options, both in the US and GCC markets.
As observed in previous spy shots from Brazil, the new Jeep Compass bears the semblance of a scaled-down Grand Cherokee especially around the lighting and grille area. Meanwhile, the cabin looks more akin to the Cherokee than the Renegade. The controversial T-handle shifter is missing though!
Jeep says the new Compass was not featured in the New York Auto Show, simply because they wanted to reveal the vehicle at its own manufacturing plant, thereby highlighting the significance of the South and Central American markets for the SUV brand. However, it is likely to make its North American debut at the LA Auto Show in November, later this year.
As planned, the 2017 Compass should roll into US dealerships in the early months of 2017; while buyers in the Middle East are expected to wait patiently for word on the regional launch, specification and pricing.

It’s based on an edited press release from Jeep, not a Pulitzer-prize winning investigative piece of journalism, “lol”.

It will compete with RAV4s and CRVs.
