2017 Nissan X-Trail facelift revealed

The 2017 Nissan X-Trail has received a facelift, at least in some markets. Known as the Nissan Rogue in the U.S. market, it features their new corporate “V-Motion” exterior design, along with the addition of a hybrid engine.

For the exterior, the new grill is wider and lower which, along with the thinner LED headlights, gives a sharper look to the front fascia. The rear gets a set of refreshed boomerang tail lights and a bit of chrome on the lower diffuser. In the inside, the flat bottomed steering wheel is a new addition. A few minor changes to the centre console and the leather trim has been done to the cabin. A surfeit of safety options are also offered with the new X-Trail which includes Intelligent Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning and Prevention and Forward Emergency Braking System with Pedestrian Detection, Blind Spot Warning and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.

The X-Trail will be available with the current 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine which is good for 170 hp and 237 Nm of torque. The hybrid unit is a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine coupled with an electric motor. This combo churns out 176 hp. The hybrid is expected to return a fuel efficiency of 6.9 litres/100 km when combined with front-wheel-drive and 7.1 litres/100 km when combined with four-wheel-drive. It comes with stop-start and regenerative braking technology and is made available only on the five-seat SV and SL trims.

While the 2017 Nissan X-Trail facelift may come to the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and other GCC countries sometime next year, whether the hybrid unit will be made available to this region is yet to be known.
