Lamborghini Centenario Roadster limited edition, only 20 to be built
Lamborghini revealed their special-edition model, the Centenario, earlier this year at the Geneva Motor Show. With just 20 of them built, it was created to commemorate the 100th birth anniversary of Mr. Ferruccio Lamborghini, the brand’s founder. At the Monterey Car Week, they followed it up by revealing a convertible version, dubbed the Centenario Roadster.
The Centenario Roadster, just like the Coupe, is a hardcore one-off based on the Aventador. Exactly 20 of them will be built, but sources say that all of them are already sold. While the coupe went for $2 million, the Roadster will cost roughly $2.3 million. In typical Lamborghini way, sharp creases adorn the whole body of the Roadster while carbon-fibre is generously used on the skirts, splitters, winglets etc. The electrically-deployed rear wing is actuated automatically according to the speed and the driving conditions. The Centenario also comes with rear-wheel steering and a new telemetry system that keeps track of the data regarding the car’s performance while it is on a track.
The Roadster shares its engine with the coupe. The 6.5-litre V12 has been spruced up to produce 759 hp which will take the car from 0-100 kph in less than 2.9 seconds. This is just a tenth of second slower than the coupe, an impressive feat considering the fact that the Roadster must have gained some weight over the coupe. The Centenario was displayed to the public at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.
It is definitely a strong possibility a few could show up in the UAE or other GCC countries, even if unofficially. Meanwhile, the coupe will show up in the next Transformers movie, as it was seen being filmed on location in London alongside Bumblebee et al.
