So we got a 2016 Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport
Revealed late last year, the Clubsport version of the ever-popular VW Golf GTI is supposed to be the most aggressive version of this front-driver yet. But with VW’s own Golf R available for just a few bucks more, does the Clubsport make sense?
It does look like the most aggressive Golf ever though, with functional vents on the new front bumper and a proper rear spoiler, aside from those cool wheels.
Inside, it’s standard Golf fare. Nothing to see here if you are familiar with Golf GTIs. Interesting details include the new upholstery on the seats and the subwoofer within the spare wheel.
But darn does it drive well. Probably the best-driving Golf variant ever. This car has a clear reason to exist. More on that in the full review.

Where are my quad exhausts? Sorry, Clubsport. Golf R it is.

Golf have been always a FWD hot hatch… this one feel more a Golf rather than the 4WD Golf R.
