Top 10 most researched new cars in KSA for Ramadan 2016

Yesterday, we brought you the top most researched cars in the UAE this month. Today, we bring you the same list for Saudi Arabia. Our readers are real car shoppers, so we are in a good position to see exactly what people here are interested in buying, simply by looking at our internal stats. Our site is constantly gaining in popularity in Saudi Arabia, so much so that 100,000 of our 500,000 unique visitors per month are from the Kingdom. So here’s a rundown of the top ten cars being researched the most on DriveArabia.com this Ramadan in KSA.

Toyota Camry

Residents of Saudi Arabia seem to make more sensible decisions than us in the UAE, as their top most researched car is the ubiquitous Camry. Moderately redesigned last year, it is a pretty good car now, so we can’t complain about their choice.

Hyundai Tucson

Hyundai is big in several GCC countries, second in sales only to Toyota. The new Tucson is leading that charge, with quality, style and value that surpasses pretty much every other contender in the compact crossover segment.

Hyundai Accent

The cheap-and-cheerful get prominent billing on this list with the Accent, a great value-for-money proposition for those looking for affordable transportation without feeling embarrassed about being seen in one. They are pretty decent cars for their price bracket.

Isuzu D-Max

This one shouldn’t be much of a surprise. The Toyota Hilux is the top-selling light vehicle in the Kingdom on most months, clearly the default choice for many Saudis who use their car for work and personal use. Traditional Hilux buyers don’t need to research anything before they head to the showroom, but clearly those people who are interested in alternatives such as the D-Max do their homework first.

Toyota Land Cruiser Prado

The Prado enters our list lower than expected, but still the king of its segment. We never tried the current one which got that weird facelift a couple of years ago, but we assume it’s the same as the competent version before it.

Hyundai Elantra

As we mentioned earlier, Hyundai is clearly a strong player in Saudi Arabia, and the Elantra comes in above the Corolla on our list. It’s clearly the best-looking car in its segment, but a combination of good space and great pricing seals the deal for most.

Toyota Fortuner

This all-new model deserves all the attention it is getting. While still too truckish for our tastes, the offroad-ready Fortuner is better in every possible way compared to its popular predecessor, and can now be had with numerous luxury features on the top version.

Honda Civic

There is a lot of hype surrounding the new Civic, so it is no wonder that the compact sedan is suddenly on everyone’s radar again. It’s a good overall package, held back in the sales charts by price alone, but the new ones are somewhat-almost-kind-of worth the price of admission.

Toyota RAV4

The RAV4 is doing rather well nowadays, holding its own against the Korean onslaught, at least during this month. This may sound like a broken record, but we haven’t driven the facelifted new RAV4 either, but we believe it is largely the same as the previous model which we liked.

Toyota Corolla

The stalwart of the compact sedan segment rounds off our list. Even a new “Sport” model joining the range this year isn’t enough to make it the top pick of the compact segment among our readers. Everybody knows Hyundai is gunning for Toyota, but who knew the battle would be fought this closely in certain markets?
