2017 Renault Grand Scenic revealed
Renault recently revealed the Grand Scenic, which is a bigger version of their MPV, Scenic. It is available with either 5 seats or 7 seats, while the smaller Scenic makes do with just 5. The design is carried over from the Scenic, inside out. The front fascia flaunts the familiar Renault family face, albeit in a fresher avatar. The rear looks interesting with the boomerang shaped tail lamps and chrome inserts. The whole range comes with 20-inch alloys as standard which increases the ground clearance to 160 mm.
The interior of the car is spruced up in quite a futuristic manner. The R-Link 2 infotainment system is fitted with an 8.7-inch touchscreen display along with a Bose surround sound system. The Gearbox lever is ergonomically mounted on to the centre console. Intelligent interior setup has freed up a colossal 765 litres of cargo space on the 5 seater variant. By folding the second row down, more room can be generated. On the safety front, Renault have loaded the Grand Scenic with features like lane keeping assist system, fatigue detection warning and active emergency braking with pedestrian detection .
Renault hasn’t fiddled with the engine layout, so the Grand Scenic will come with the same lineup of engines available with the Scenic, which is already a long list five turbocharged diesel engines and 2 turbocharged petrol engines to choose from. The diesel engines, of which one is a hybrid, range from 109 hp to 158 hp. While in the turbo petrol units, you have a choice between 114 hp or 128 hp.
The Grand Scenic will hit the markets by the end of 2016. Whether it will come to the UAE, Saudi Arabia or other GCC markets remains to be seen.
