The IS sedan is one of the success stories for Lexus worldwide. At the ongoing Beijing Auto Show, Lexus has unveiled a facelift of this sedan that enhances its already sporty looks.

The changes to the fascia starts with the new spindle grill which folds back at a higher point than the current model and it is available on both the regular and sport versions. The new bumper is flanked by massive air ducts on either side and by redesigned headlamps with ‘L’ shaped running lamps.

Inside, there aren’t too many changes. The display screen size of the infotainment system has been increased to 10.3 inches from the previous 7 inches. The centre console is lowered a bit and some new stitching can be found above the gauge cluster.

The engine lineup is preserved, starting with the base IS 200t and its 2.0-litre turbo inline-4 engine which produces 241 hp and 349 Nm of torque and the IS 350 and its 3.5-litre V6 with 312 hp and 375 Nm. The standard gearbox is an 8-speed automatic, although some markets will get optional all-wheel-drive with a 6-speed automatic.

The new Lexus IS will go on sale in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and other GCC countries by late 2016.

  1. Are you sure it gets a 9-speed gearbox ?

  2. Nice car but in V6 the fuel economy is bad for its size. Also steering wheel and some controlers are some what small like it was designed for kids, I drove Audi A3, BMW 3 series and Infinite q50 none of them had that issue.

  3. Shape is not good. Toyota is loosing market share big time.

    • yes in your mind they are loosing market share. this is a Toyota land and will remain forever, germans cant give the reliability or longitivity or lower cost of ownership. Toyota will always rule over here my friend, just leave city of Dubai and abu dhabhi rest of emirates germans are out numbered by 5-1

  4. Oh Market share really.

If you want to talk about market share it should be World wide not only UAE.
