Ferrari GTC4 Lusso readied for Geneva debut

Since its launch in the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, the Ferrari FF stayed the fastest four-seater car in the world, till now. This first four-wheel-drive Ferrari is now officially declared to be replaced by a new machine from the Ferrari stable, the GTC4 Lusso. The name of the new model traces back to the older Ferrari models, the 330GTC and the 250GT Berliners Berlinetta Lusso.

From the details, it can be inferred that the Lusso will be a face-lifted FF with fine tuned details in order to make it stand out from the FFs and to provide with better performance. A redesigned front bumper with built in air intakes, rear air vents, a roof-mounted spoiler and a new diffuser completes the aerodynamic alterations and Ferrari claims the Lusso to be more slipperier than the FF that it replaces.

Beneath the mildly tweaked hood, the same 6.2-litre V12 engine can be found, albeit in a fiercer state of tune. The 651 horsepower and 683 Nm figures have been hauled up to a brawnier 680 hp and 697 Nm. 80% of this torque is available from revs as low as 1750 rpm for superb acceleration and driveability at lower speeds. As a result, the 0-100 kph run is faster by 0.3 seconds and at 3.4 seconds, this figure puts the GTC4 right in the supercar territory.

The boffins at Maranello have spruced up the interior as well with a 10.25-inch screen for Ferrari’s latest Infotainment system right in the middle of the dashboard. A smaller, sportier steering wheel is also fitted, courtesy to a more compact airbag system. New buttons and dials top it all off.

The most advanced addition to the FF’s package is Four Wheel Steer. It works in combination with the 4RM Evo four-wheel-drive system. Ferrari claims that this system equips the GTC4 Lusso to tread easily by providing “extraordinary torque even on snow covered, wet or low grip roads”. The whole system works using electronic differentials and dampers which constitutes the Slip Side Control setup.

The GTC4 Lusso is expected to be showcased in the 2016 Geneva Motor Show slated to happen in the beginning of March.
