Chevrolet has revealed pictures and details of the 2017 Cruze hatchback, set to officially debut at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show. The all-new Cruze sedan debuted last summer.

Under the hood, the U.S. spec version of the Cruze gets a turbocharged 1.4-litre 4-cylinder unit, producing about 153 hp and 240 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission.

The second-generation Cruze is said to be lighter and stiffer than the outgoing model, with 113 kg shaved off. The interior gets Chevrolet’s MyLink infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

In the U.S., the Cruze is sold with 10 airbags, disc brakes and rear-view camera as standard. Optional safety equipment include safety and assistant technologies such as Lane Keep Assist, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Side Blind Zone Alert and Forward Collision Alert.

The 2017 Chevrolet Cruze could arrive in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman and other GCC countries before the end of the year.

Keep track of the latest prices and updates in the Chevrolet Cruze buyer guide.
