Hyundai Veloster shows up in Turbo R-Spec form at LA Auto Show

2014 Hyundai Veloster Turbo R-Spec
The Hyundai Veloster is a decent vehicle. It looks good, has the comforts of a 4-door hatchback and offers decent features for the price it comes at. However, Hyundai has officially unveiled the “not-your-average” Veloster in a Turbo R-Spec form at the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show.

And as the name goes, it gets the same 1.6-litre engine from the standard version, except that this time they’ve slapped in a turbocharger, making it tuner-friendly.

Alongside that, Hyundai does some enhanced chassis tuning for you. They also sport-tune the suspension and steering settings with higher spring rates and more rigid transmission mounts for higher and precise responsiveness.

But, what we actually dig is the fact that they’ve added a 6-speed manual in place of the automatic transmission, and a short-throw B&M Sport Shifter for a tighter, more direct shift feel.

On the outside, the R-Spec version adds a sporty red-accented front splitter and side blades. Then there’s the obligatory R-Spec badging on the rear hatch. The Veloster Turbo R-Spec will be available in four colors, namely- Elite White, Ultra Black, Marathon Blue, and exclusively for 2014 Veloster, Sprint Gray.

There’s no word on whether the Veloster Turbo R-Spec variant will make it to UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman and the rest of the GCC. But if it does, it would definitely be a welcome addition.
