2014 Nissan X-Trail unveiled in Frankfurt
The Nissan X-Trail had been up and about in the Middle-East since 2002. There had been no significant change in the vehicle’s design since its inception, the current X-Trail gaining some notoriety in the UAE due to the fact it is used by the Dubai Police for carrying mobile speed radars. The all-new 2014 Nissan X-Trail has officially been unveiled at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show this week. Incidentally, it is intended to be sold in several markets under different names, so our long-running version might finally be replaced in the coming years.
The visual transformation is quite evident. The X-Trail puts on Nissan’s corporate fascia upfront which makes it look like a peaceful cross between the Pathfinder and the Murano.
The new X-Trail also brings about an optional third row of seating, which puts it right into the mix of the heavily contested compact SUV segment. There’s no word on the engine yet, but we’re presuming it will carry into the GCC a 2.5-litre 4-cylinder engine similar to the one in the Altima. Of course, we’ll still have to wait for the official wording. What we are sure of is that, there we can now switch between 2WD and 4WD driving modes.
Technology-wise the X-Trail will be pre-loaded with ‘NissanConnect’, in-car navigation, information and entertainment system which will be coupled to a 7-inch touch-screen. Alongside that the driver will get a 5-inch screen for warnings such as average and actual speeds. It will also take care of turn-by-turn navigation, audio content, traffic sign recognition and torque distribution settings in 4WD mode. Nissan will also incorporate their ‘Nissan Safety Shield’ that will offer a range of active and passive safety features.
The X-Trail will come with optional daytime running LED headlights, and 19-inch alloys. However, the rear lights are a bit too generic in terms of design. Still, we fancy the new upscale interior in the new model.
Assuming it even comes here, the all-new Nissan X-Trail will be expected to enter UAE, Oman, Saudi Arabia and the rest of the GCC markets sometime next year.

It’s price is very close to Qashqai, so what will happen to Qashqai ?
I hope it will be a midder Crossover between X-Trail and Murano… the later cost too much and X-Trail needs more techy and luxury stuff..
Any Idea on when the new Qashqai and Murano will be unleashed ?
Rick
You mean released. 🙂

I feel it to be`more of a successor to Qashqai since the design completely deviates from the previous generation Xtrail. Plus some of the pictures have the “Rogue” nameplate – The american name of Qashqai.
Rick
Sorry to burst your bubble but there’s a new Qashqai coming out. And this is a lot bigger… 3rd row seats… remember?

Guys in the unveiling they clearly said this will be called the X-Trail and Rouge in some markets. So this is no Murano, or Xterra or Qashqai or Pathfinder or Juke. This is the X-Trail and will be called and released in the GCC as the X-Trail.
Looks good btw, design better than Toyota’s current cars.
