2014 Opel Insignia OPC gets 325 hp

The Opel Insignia may very well be one of the best-looking mid-size wagons in the market. But it’s a pity that it is only offered in select GCC markets. Still, the German brand has revealed details about the updated Insignia, which is due to take over as the 2014 model. It was presented recently at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show.

Considered the brain child of the engineers at the ‘Opel Performance Center’, the Insignia OPC is the icing on the cake for Opel. The car is powered by a 2.8-litre twin-turbo V6 which produces 325 hp and 435 Nm of torque, which sends power to all four-wheels through a 6-speed manual or a similar automatic gearbox. The Insignia OPC sedan reportedly hits from 0-100 kph in 6 seconds, whereas the wagon achieves it in 6.3 seconds.

The exterior updates however include only a slightly refreshed front fascia. But beneath the surface there is a reworked rear axle, revised ESP software, variable damper systems and a re-calibrated suspension.

Top speed on the 2014 Insignia OPC is electronically limited to 250kph, whereas the unrestricted version reportedly tops out at 270 kph. Stopping power comes from the set of Brembo brakes which are standard on the OPC.

The updated Opel Insignia OPC is expected to hit the UAE and select GCC markets by the end of the year.
