BMW Gran Lusso Coupe Concept debuts at Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este
BMW officially unveiled their Pininfarina Gran Lusso Coupe Concept model at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este (translated as Competition of Elegance of Villa d’Este), a show where every year about 50 vintage models compete for the best historic car.
The Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este is an event which has been happening since 1929 in Italy. But in more recent times, manufacturers have used this as a platform to show off concepts and prototypes of future models. So it will be only fair BMW show off their latest concept, the Gran Lusso Coupe, since they have been organizing the Concorsa for the last ten years.
In a joint collaboration with Italian design firm Pininfarina, BMW have built the Gran Lusso Coupe which features a “shark-nose” front design, along with prominent trademark BMW front grille. The front part of the kidney grille is made of matt-sheen aluminium, while behind it is an identically shaped part in high-gloss black to add contrast. Things get even more odd in the side, with side vents and a sloping roofline. The rear gets thin rear taillamps in matte sheet aluminium, and integrated exhaust tips in the lower bumper. The Gran Lusso Coupe rides on exclusively designed 21-inch alloy wheels.
The interior looks splendid with its Tobacco Brown leather upholstery, kauri wood trim and black chrome accents.
Under the hood, it gets a V12 engine whose specifications have not been disclosed yet. Rumour has it will be a 6.0-litre turbocharged motor developing 544 bhp and 750 Nm of torque, the same one found in the current BMW 760Li.

The rear looks kinda weird but overall good design.

The 8-series in my opinion was the most beautiful car for its time. All is wonderful in this piece of art except that boring blackened central dash for audio & AC controls that BMW is not changing since decades.
