Rolls-Royce Wraith coupe already in Dubai…as a prototype

2014 Rolls-Royce Wraith
The Rolls-Royce Wraith coupe was recently unveiled at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show less than a month ago, but the prototype is already in the UAE, right here in Dubai.

The “fastest Rolls-Royce ever” is on display inside the Emirates Towers Boulevard, first shown to the media yesterday and on show today for potential customers. It helps that the UAE is such a profitable market for Rolls-Royce.

The car on display is a hand-built (more than usual anyway) version of the final production model, so while it is drivable, it isn’t sturdy enough to be manhandled. As such, we simply walked around the car and peaked inside to get an idea of what the actual car will look like.

Based on the Ghost sedan, the Wraith coupe has rear-hinged “suicide” doors, a dashboard similar to the Ghost, a starry-sky headliner similar to the Phantom Coupe, the biggest piece of wood ever seen on a door panel, and apparently enough rear legroom to fit adults, unlike its closest rival, the Bentley Continental GT.

Set to be powered by a 624 hp V12, the Wraith will make 799 Nm of torque, mated to an 8-speed automatic. In a case of one-upmanship, Rolls-Royce has come up with an automatic gearbox that selects the right gear based on which road you’re driving on, determining upcoming corners using GPS!

The Wraith is expected to go into production by August, with GCC deliveries starting as early as November this year.
