2014 BMW Z4 facelift at Detroit Auto Show

The 2014 BMW Z4 range has been given a timely facelift. It is all set to show its face at the Detroit Auto Show and is scheduled to be in showrooms by mid-2013.

Most of the stylistics traits of the current Z4 remain. However, it now gets restyled headlamps, a new fascia and fender vents. Three new metallic colors have been added, including Mineral Grey, Glacier Silver and Valencia Orange. Customers will also be able to opt for the Hyper Orange Package with the Valencia Orange exterior paint, which adds orange accents on the interior including Alcantara door inserts and contrasting seat stitching.

New interior additions include glossy black surrounds for the central air vents and the iDrive control system’s folding Control Display, which comes as part of the optional navigation system. Fineline Anthracite wood has been added to the selection of interior trim strips available as an option. All cars in the range get Kansas leather trim and a range of light-alloy wheels including a new V-Spoke 18-inch wheels.

The European version will get an entry-level model called the Z4 sDrive18i which uses the same twin-turbo 2.0-litre I-4 as the Z4 sDrive28i, detuned from 240hp to 156hp. BMW’s N54 TwinPower Turbo 3.0-litre inline-6 will be available on both the sDrive35i and the sDrive35is with power outputs of 300 hp and 407 Nm; and 335 hp and 450 Nm, respectively. Choices of transmissions include a 6-speed manual, 8-speed automatic and a 7-speed DCT.

The optional BMW Individual hardtop is available in the two contrast colors, Jet Black and Titanium Silver metallic. The retractable hardtop can be opened or closed in 19 seconds up to 40 kph.

The full range of BMW ConnectedDrive features have also been made available for 2014.

Although prices in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and GCC have not been announced, they will range between AED 180,000 to 240,000, approximately.
