So we got a 2013 Lexus LS 460L
This here is the latest Lexus LS 460L, that last “L” meaning it’s a long-wheelbase version. The carmaker claims it is an “all-new” model, and we sort of agreed with that when we drove it at the launch event for an hour or so. However, after bringing it home, we feel it still drives very similarly to the old one.
That said, there are still a whole lot of “all-new” elements to it. The exterior facelift, for one, is much more attractive in our eyes, although we’ve met some conservative people who think otherwise.
Keeping with the “all-new” theme, the entire interior is completely redesigned. The leather-clad cabin is among the best in the business, although we’ve come across some horrendous useability issues with the joymouse-controlled computer, such as the need to point-and-click on “AGREE” to accept some legal drivel before you can use the rearview camera while you’re already waiting in reverse gear to back up!
The rear space is huge, as you’d expect from an “L” model, but only the right-side rear passenger gets the full benefit of the massage/reclining features. Also, that enormous bulge forming the central screen causes elbow-room issues for taller passengers up front.
The boot could’ve been bigger, but a lot of space seems to be taken up by the mechanisms powering the fancy rear seats. So if you want to carry more luggage, borrow a Toyota Camry.
The drive remains purely old-school Lexus, competing with the likes of the Rolls-Royce Phantom rather than the BMW 7-Series when it comes to overall comfort. For obvious reasons, that takes a toll on driving dynamics, though it has definitely improved compared to the 2007 model tested years ago. More in the full review.

have a good designers left lexus???
all their new cars hardly show any signs of re-designs. simple facelifts seems all they can in the monent, GS, IS, now this one..
strange. was hoping for something more “wow”..
