So we got a 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera S Cabriolet
We picked up this 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera S Cabriolet only a couple of days after driving the Boxster S in Germany. The similarities were uncanny, but the 911 still was unique in its own right.
Like the fact that the longer 911 has a back seat while the Boxster has none, no matter how useless it might be. And the fact that it has more power than any Boxster. And also that it has, well, differently-shaped a/c vents than the Boxster.
We would’ve tried to find more differences, but our 24-hour test-drive was cut short when, after being parked overnight, some jealous loser put a minor key-scratch on the passenger door. After we noticed it the following morning, the good samaritans that we are, we called the police, who told us to try polish first and then decided to turn it into, we think, a vandalism case. While we are still sketchy on the details due to their lack of communication, long after we had returned the car, it was a complete waste of three more days chasing a piece of paper that would help the Porsche office get the door-scratch fixed on insurance.
So much for that then. Read about our brief driving impressions on the 911 Cabrio in the upcoming “first drive” article, although after that it is unlikely that we’ll ever be borrowing another Porsche again.

Can happen to any car, not necessarily a Porsche.. Dont stop borrowing them for this reason alone .. Just find a more safer place to park borrowed cars. Im sure the dealer will understand

Chasing police reports for every little scratch is a massive waste of our time. There are other carmakers who take back tester cars with mild damage and get them fixed on their own.

mild scratch can be fixed at any shop for under 500 dhs(even cheaper depending on size of scratch). id rather pay up than run behind cops and waste my time. porsche would have never know if it was repaired properly

granted once more being German i may not be fully objective, but this one is another perfect beauty. slick design, perfect technology, unmatchable heritage!
