The 300,000th Land Rover LR2 rolls off the production line

Land Rover rolled out the 300,000th Land Rover LR2 off their production lines at the Halewood Operations in Merseyside.

The Halewood plant began production of the LR2 in October 2006. This particular LR2 is powered by a 2.2-litre Diesel engine and came painted in shade called Barolo Black, the keys of which went to a customer in Brazil. Land Rover claims they currently hold 40% of the SUV market share in Brazil, of all places.

The LR2, also known as the Freelander, was Land Rover’s biggest selling model last year retailing around 52,000 units globally.

In the GCC, the 2012 LR2 is available with a 3.2-litre inline-six engine churning out 230 hp and 317 Nm of torque. The car has a starting price of Dhs 159,000 in the UAE.
