Maruti-Suzuki extends Swift range with new Ertiga
Maruti-Suzuki has officially unveiled an extended version of the current Swift in India, named Ertiga. The Suzuki Ertiga now joins the range along with the Swift hatchback and Dzire sedan in the subcontinent.
Dubbed as a LUV, or Life Utility Vehicle, or what would conventionally be called an MPV, the Ertiga manages to squeeze in an extra row of seating to accommodate seven passengers.
Launching locally in India prior to export to neighbouring markets like Indonesia, the LUV is aimed to compete with the likes of Toyota’s Avanza and Mahindra’s Xylo, although the Ertiga remains marginally smaller than its market rivals.
Buyers in India will be able to choose between three trim levels, and a 93 hp petrol or a torquey 88 hp diesel engine. The Ertiga is currently available for order in the sub-continent, and is marked at Rs. 6 lakh, or about Dhs 42,000. It’s a bargain, considering the prices of cars in India.

for the Indian market, it will work, as MPVs are the most popular choice there. The 1.3-litre DDIS diesel engine from suzuki is a beast in the Swift; not sure how its gon’ perform in this bigger car though…

Us Indians will buy, that’s what most of us can afford their and this is what will survive there, its a Suzuki so will definitely give more peace of mind than Mahindras and Tatas, not that they don’t make good cars, but Suzuki is just better, being in market for a longer time.
