Kuwaiti Chevrolet Camaro drag car catches fire at Yas Marina

A series of dramatic events unfolded at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi, as a competitor’s dragster caught fire in the season-opening Pro Drag Series. The driver managed to make a miraculous escape from his faulty car, thanks to the emergency staff.

According to Sport 360, Kuwaiti racer Turki Al Humaidi was reportedly suffering from technical issues with his Chevrolet Camaro dragster before it caught fire.

Stewards immediately rushed to his aid, helped remove his seat belt and forced him out of the car. Moments later, the car became engulfed in flames. The emergency staff again, got the blaze under control. Al Humaidi is known to have escaped major injuries.

It was a heart-stopping beginning to this year’s popular Drag Series, which features six classes of professional racing, namely the Pro Mod, 7.5 Index, Pro Bike, Super Street Bike, Pro 6 and Super Street 8.
