Chevrolet Traverse gets facelift for 2013

The covers have come off the redesigned 2013 Chevrolet Traverse, in what could signal Chevy’s boring future styling direction. It gets a three-bar upper and two-bar lower grille design upfront, as well as a bonnet bulge. Beyond the A-pillars everything has been redesigned, the rest of the body remains till the D-pillars. The rear end gets redesigned taillights, liftgate and a relocated license-plate section.

The Traverse’s hard-plastic interior largely remains the same, except for some fake-leather bits tacked on. The most distinct addition inside the cabin has been the introduction of MyLink, GM’s infotainment system that supports Bluetooth voice and audio and other applications.

The direct-injected 3.6-litre V6 will be retained with no changes. The motor in current tune produces 281 hp and 359 Nm. Amongst the few changes for this mid-cycle refresh is the adjusted suspension setting.

The segment’s current leader in terms of sales is the Ford Explorer in its U.S. home market, where the Traverse is left trailing by a fair margin, so these changes are an attempt to boost interest in the aging model.
