2009 Mercedes-Benz GLK launched in Dubai

I hear from AutoMiddleEast that the 2009 Mercedes-Benz GLK was launched at a public event in Dubai. Ironically, while I never heard about this event, I have been invited to a GCC press drive event in Oman, to show off the compact new GLK’s capabilities.

As expected, the GLK 280 and the GLK 350 models were launched, with a 228 hp 3.0-litre V6 and a 268 hp 3.6-litre V6 respectively. All models have a 7-speed automatic gearbox, all-wheel-drive and the Pre-Safe system that detects imminent accidents and does stuff to reduce injuries. Prices start at Dhs 173,000.

There is a tiny chance that I’ve been blacklisted in Oman for allegedly cussing at a cop, so instead of me, my new buddy Jeremy will be attending the GLK press event in November, which also happens to briefly overlap with the our Sharjah Auto Show non-preparations.

What do you think?

  1. what a ugly car… ugly and bad looking

  2. Mashfique, the launch is being held near the Paris Gallery, Ibn Battuta Mall from the 22nd – 25th. Timings – 4pm to 10pm

  3. it looks quiet freaky. just that freaky bonnet which is too close to the top of the front wheel well and not matching long wheelbase. didnt merc realize how un sophisticated [or even unprofessional] it looks and postponned the launch?

  4. nice ride,but a little expensive.

  5. 173,000 for this!!! ahhh…is it made of gold?? I dont like these luxury cross overs. I dont see the point in paying 173,000 for a vehicle that’ll probably never handle as well as a merc car, and can neither go offroad..
The only vechicle that probably deserves any look in this category is the LR2..

  6. what about the back

  7. bacl looks fine but the angle at which the pic is taken here makes it look stupid cuz of the side views coming in the shot.

  8. cool and reliable

  9. Sex In The City!! 😉

  10. get a vw … better ha

  11. Man,price of this car in China is about 350,000 Dhs…..

  12. It more like what a “Lada Niva” or a USSR Jeep would look like if it got facelifted and launched nowadays.. Ugly design, mercedes didnt work hard on it.. Honda crv is much better looking..
