So we got a 2012 VW Eos
The facelifted-for-2012 Eos is our second test car from VW after the Tiguan, so we got to try out the rather-entertaining 2.0-litre TSI turbo yet again. Of course, there is more to this car than just the engine.
For starters, it is a hard-top convertible based on the VW Golf, and the family resemblance shows. Interesting design features include a glass top piece that even opens like a regular sunroof.
The overall design is rather docile, almost as if it were targeted towards women, but big alloys and smoked headlights offer up some aggression.
The 5-piece mechanical ballet when the top drops causes heads to turn. Of course, this leaves very little space in the boot.
The interior is reasonably upscale, with soft-touch upper materials, some hard rubber surfaces and very nice leather. Space is generous, and it is much easier to spend time in than, say, the Chevy Camaro convertible.
The front offers space just like the regular Golf, and with a bigger windshield than in the Camaro, the wind flies over your head rather than into your eyes when the top is down.
The rear actually offers enough space for adults, as long as the front passengers generously offer up a bit of theirs. Even the rear compartment is nicely lined.
The VW Eos is a good contender in the niche hard-top convertible segment dominated by the European carmakers. Keep the roof up, and it can be as practical as any coupe. Of course, it also offers up certain quirks that take getting used to. More in the full review.

How much is the 2.0TSI going for? I heard that VW ME have decided to get the 2.0TSI only for the ME market, no more V6’s. On another note, Just saw the Golf Convertible R – Any news on that?

This one I listed the price in the buyer guide. The R and GTI convertibles are just concepts for now, based on the cloth-top cabrio.

I guess looking at the previous generation eos which hardly ever made any impact, VW was wise enough not to keep too many options with a car that probably won’t make too much of impact on their revenue
