Long-term wrap-up: 2011 Infiniti QX56

The 2011 Infiniti QX56 is no more with us, having gone back to Nissan Middle East earlier this month. It was a good ride, initially overwhelming us with its size, but then proving to be very manouevrable in all but the tightest of cases.

During our time with it, we even managed to eke out impressive fuel economy numbers, relatively speaking, that would make any other large 4x4s jealous. And that too with a big V8 that is among the best in the business.

About the only thing missing from this complete package was absolute off-road capability, but only because of the fancy 22-inch alloy wheels. It can easily become a serious dune-basher by installing smaller wheels and fatter tyres, while leaving the stock alloys in the garage, if owners wish to do that.

And not one gadget went wrong or acted weird during our entire two months with the Japanese truck, something that cannot be expected from German SUVs. After all, the QX56 is based on the legendary Nissan Patrol.

  1. is it rly that good of an offroader?
sry i just tend to have this image of true 4x4s to be rather… mechanical and less luxurious 😛

  2. This one has one of the best ground clearance as far as stock 4wd’s are concerned, apart from FJ and X. Just stand next to one of the new Patrols or models based on it and you will know what i am talking about.

  3. in fact this car is so sexy it’s really attract me more than the mostly handsome men in the world, but the men are more availablilty as they’re priceless :$
sorry 4 compairing my dream car =))

  4. Thank you so much sir for such an outstanding Report series about the QX56. It was very informative and considerate to the daily usage of such a luxury car.

Sir, I had a look at the is amazing website and saw your report on Sequoia 2010 (which I currently own)…I’m considering a move from a regular SUV to luxury SUV…Do you think QX56 is the best choice? how do you compare the 3rd row seats between the two cars?

    Many Thanks

The third row seating is spacious enough. No worries there. The QX56 rides a bit firmly, so see if it suits you.
